• What are the New Changes in Path of Exile 2?
1. It is not a separate game. You may pick your campaign of choice as you create a new character. Your cosmetic items and microtransaction purchases will carry over to the new campaign. The catch is you can't use your old characters. While PoE2 uses the same archetypes, there will be 19 new Ascendancy Classes different from the original. That would make transferring your old characters quite difficult. Also, with the 20-year time difference between the two, you should let your old character rest. This also means that there are all-new bosses and creatures to defeat. It's a breath of fresh air from the rather repetitive boss battles of before.
2. The new campaign focuses on a smaller threat, rather than the first's world-ending ones. As tradition dictates, your new character escapes execution, only to wash up on the shores of Wraeclast. Your adventure will lead you to figure out the mystery surrounding the Duke who tried to have you killed.
3. The game's physics engine and graphics will be updated. Projectiles such as arrows will either get stuck on surfaces, break, or shatter, depending on their material. Graphics will be rendered more realistically, as will the action. Path of Exile 2 is being developed in a new rendering system, so the level of details and the in-game animation will be a lot sharper and will have a lot of depth in it.
4. Gameplay has been enhanced, and the addition of shape-shift has unlocked the gates of countless cool abilities. A new progression system has been incorporated and a different system of adding supporting gems will make it a lot easier for the fans to upgrade their characters.
5. The Skill Gem system will get a rework. Equipment slots used to determine how many gems you can link together. With the new overhaul, it's the skill gems that have the slots. That's right, you can have a six-slotted skill gem to make skill swapping easier. Also, the passive skill tree has something in the works, though GGG is keeping mum about it for now.
6. The original campaign gets the same core mechanic modifications. That means the skill system overhaul, as well as the improved graphics and physics, will likely apply to the older campaign.
7. According to the updates, a new '7 act storyline campaign' will be introduced in the game, and it will be developed in a new engine. The campaign will be the newest addition, however, the original campaign will be available as well.

There is no release date yet. The good news is that there might be a beta in late 2020.
Path of Exile 2 is expected to release sometime in 2021. Although ExileCon did feature in-game footage and a playable chunk of Path of Exile 2, developer Grinding Gear Games said that it would be at least one year before players get their hands on the title. With a bit of luck, that could translate into an alpha or a beta later in 2020, but it's likely safer to assume the game will launch at some point in 2021.
